The Murjanmarssi trail starts from the Hillosensalmi station or from the Orilampi Cottage and Holiday Center and goes on the north side Nuollahti to Olhava in the Repovesi Nationa Park. It’s a great connection trail and can easily be combined with the Kaakkurin kierros trail. Along the trail wide pine forests and cliffs can be seen. It’s common to see footprints of elks along the trail.

Length: 15km
Suitability: Connection trail to the Repovesi National Park. For beginner or intermediate hikers
Difficulty: Mostly easy. There are a couple of hard ascents and elevation changes.

Sights

  • Murjanvuori: From the top of the hill you have a nice view to the lake system of Repovesi.
  • Särkilampi ja Mustalampi: These ponds are in the middle of a beautiful pine forest. The eastern shores of Mustalampi are steep and there is a lean-to at Särkilampi.
  • Kuitinoja: This is an old timber rafting stream. Along it, logs were driven from the back forests to Nuollahti.
  • Nuollamminvuori: It’s a steep climb to the top of the hill, where you see the tree tops and have a view to the lake.
  • Pitkälampi: There are rugged cliffs on the eastern side of this long and narrow lake. The trail goes to top of the Pitkälamminvuori hill where the view to the west is especially beautiful at sunset.
  • Beaver damages at Myllylampi: Some years ago, the dams built by beavers made the water level rise for several meters in the Myllylampi pond. This caused major damage to the surrounding forests.
  • Riuttanvuori: From the top of the hill there is a spectacular view to the west and to the lakes of Repovesi.
