The locals used to make moonshine at Kirnuhuoko. The process requires cold water, and there was a little stream coming down from the pond above. Conveniently, the water trickled down along the rock under cover.

Under the management of Valkeala council, there used to be a lean-to at Kirnuhuoko, and the place was known for its mosquitoes. After the National Park was established, the lean-to was moved up by the little pond and away from the mosquitoes.
From Kirnuhuoko, the stairs start towards the Hauklammenvuori Hill.
